My baby girl was born 3 months early and in order for her to survive, she had to have a transfusion. Ever since then I was donating my plasma because somebody gave their plasma that helped save my baby girl’s life.
My stepfather had cancer in his red blood cells. He was surviving off plasma and blood transfusions for the last few months of his life. When the hospital could not get any more plasma for him in time, his health declined rapidly. This showed me the importance of donating plasma to those in need. When I learned that there was a way to help people like my stepdad, I wanted to do so. I’m happy that donating my plasma helps save lives. My fiancé and I donate together and are happy to do it every time.
I was in a car accident 35 years ago and lost 6 pints of blood. I was given blood to save my life and once I got better, I decided I wanted to give back the best way I could. I heard about donating plasma so I decided to call and see if I could donate. I was told to come into the center to start my donation process! I have been donating my plasma ever since. My grandmother, who raised me from infancy, passed away when I was 17 from Acute amyloid Leukemia. My grandfather and I witnessed firsthand the impact plasma donation can have on a person’s life. Unfortunately, her battle was lost but my hope is to provide for others that have the chance at a different fate. She is the closest thing I ever had to a mother, and I miss her every day.
I was inspired to donate plasma after losing my husband in 2021 to cancer after a 3-year struggle. I felt I had lost a lot of meaning in life and struggled daily to understand the loss. Then, one day, as if sent by God, a friend of mine told me about a new place in town where you could donate your plasma to help others. I knew instantly this was what I wanted to do! It has filled a void that I so desperately needed to fill. I walk away from the donation feeling good about myself and knowing I have helped someone along the way. And for me, that’s what life is all about, doing for others when they need you.
I started donating my plasma initially for the extra money, but I found out that a friend of mine was going through complications with his liver. He told me that there are a lot of people who utilize plasma to survive. Once I read up on the uses for plasma I was amazed that it’s used for people with trauma as well as burn victims. If I can make a difference in someone else’s life I’m satisfied.
My daughter has recently needed blood transfusions, and it has shown me the need for and importance of donations.
I donate my plasma because I have family members who were ill and unfortunately, I could not help them. By donating plasma, I’m doing my part to help people in need.
My mom was very sick years ago when I was young and nearly died in the hospital. Other people’s plasma donations helped her make a full recovery. From then on, I wanted to donate my plasma whenever I got the chance so I could help other people and make a difference.
My grandmother was my absolute best friend. She developed a liver disease in 2019 and passed away on December 22, 2019. I donate my plasma to help burn victims and people with rare unknown diseases. They didn’t ask to be born with something so uncommon that they are dependent on plasma.
