New Center Opens in Nacogdoches, Texas

Nacogdoches Opening

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Nacogdoches, TX), November 16, – Freedom Plasma proudly announces Nacogdoches Texas as the site for its first plasma donation center. The community is invited to visit the state-of-the-art facility to learn more about the need for plasma donations. The new center opened its doors on November 16, 2021.

“There is a tremendous need for donated plasma”, according to Blair McKinney, Chief Operating Officer of ImmunoTek Bio Centers, one of the partner companies that built and will operate the center. “Donated plasma is used to create many important medicines and plasma-based treatments for which there are no substitutes. As work continues in those areas, we see the need for increased plasma donation centers like the one we are opening in Nacogdoches.”

The Nacogdoches center will open with 14 team members and will continue to grow in the coming months. The center will provide a way for local residents to help others and be compensated for their time when they donate plasma.

The economic impact of a typical plasma donation center in a community is estimated at approximately $5 million per year. “Our experience shows that a majority of the funds our donors receive as compensation is spent in local businesses,” said McKinney, “Not only do plasma donations help save lives, but it also financially benefits our donors, employees, and the local economy.”

Following an in-house screening along with a medical history and physical exam conducted by our medical professionals, donors can roll up their sleeves and donate plasma much the same way as a blood donation. It is completed using a safe, sterile, self-contained automated process called plasmapheresis. Plasma can be donated up to twice a week.

“Donating plasma is truly a life-saving gift. Plasma collected at our centers is used to develop plasma protein therapies and vaccines that offer treatment for a myriad of immune disorders. Research also shows promise with plasma-derived therapies to reduce or limit the effects from Alzheimer’s and dementia,” said Jerome Parnell III, CEO of ImmunoTek Bio Centers. Plasma is also used in treatments for burn victims, those suffering from blood disorders, organ transplants, cancer patients, and many others.

Freedom Plasma’s Nacogdoches location is at 4606 North Street and will operate Tuesday – Saturday. Following the first week of opening, which is by appointment only, walk-in donors are welcome. If you need more information or want to make a donation appointment, call the center at 936-585-8819 or visit Freedomplasma.com.
